CRAFTSMANSHIP
Scofield Lighting designs and produces the finest luxury American and European style vintage reproduction lighting available. We are a small company headquartered in Ivoryton, Connecticut—we collaborate on designs, finishes and special manufacturing processes. All fixtures are designed and built by hand in Connecticut and Massachusetts. We’re proud of a long history of New England Yankee ingenuity and artisanal passion for functional beauty.
Scofield’s handmade exterior and interior traditional fixtures provide architectural lighting that can boldly accent contemporary or historical settings. "With the same traditional technology used over for over two hundred years, with the same beautiful materials and tools, we can accurately reproduce an extraordinary fixture design," says Doreen, "We're pulling the best from the past and fashioning it in ways and new applications for any setting, old or new."
"We’re working with a material quality proven with centuries of success," Scofield Master Craftsman Pete Greenlaw says. "Our painted finishes are hand-mixed casein, applied in layers producing a rich, textured depth like the one you’d find on a real antique fixture painted over two hundred years ago. Our glass is hand-blown. The chandelier turnings are hand-turned and never mechanically duplicated. We bend and form tin and copper to create beautiful and functional fixtures. With custom fixtures, we get to spread our wings—applying traditional techniques to new forms. For us, building tangible works of beautify from drawings and sketches is always something special and unique. There are very few craftsmen left who are able to do this. We love it.”
If you're looking for high-end accurate historical reproductions or traditional lighting, you've found the best at Scofield. And if you're looking for creative, innovative applications for contemporary settings, we're ready to collaborate to bring your vision to life.
